I played through the entire "Heroes of Might and Magic" game. If I install "Hammers of Fate" and "Tribes of the East" afterward, will my previous campaigns, hero progress, etc., be preserved? And is it possible to temporarily save all of this for a Windows reinstallation?

As a rule, all saves are preserved and are located in the My Documents/My Games/Heroes of Might and Magic V folder. This is generally the case for most games; even if you uninstall the game, the saves will remain (but it's still better to copy them to a disk or somewhere else).
