When you regained consciousness and found yourself in front of a mirror, you saw... a Unicorn of the Sylvan faction. These are spirits of nature, and therefore they are sacred to the Elves, who see them as a reincarnation of the Ancients. They are also seen as a totem (guardian spirit) of the entire nation, as a prophecy states that when the last unicorn dies, the Elven kingdom and all its inhabitants will die as well. They have the ability to shield nearby friendly units from enemy spells.
