I understand that you are talking about Israel as a reluctant, hospitable host. However, with the same probability, the same invasion could happen in Palestine. And I don't think that promises anything good.
Is it tempting to annex a country? If you consider that it will become a parasite, then it doesn't seem so tempting anymore; it's much easier to devour it when it's running out of strength or simply ignore it.
Protecting and attracting humanists from Israel's perspective is what will destroy Palestine.
