Interestingly, the statement "... a simple, primitive melody ..." also applies to most of the works of most bands working in the metal genre (all styles of this musical direction are implied).

The structure and complexity of any pop composition (I don't know how applicable the word "composition" is to pop music, but let's assume it is) cannot be compared to most of the compositions of most rock bands (including metal bands). One can, of course, call all metal primitive and simple music, arguing that Bach and Chopin played much better and "more complex," but why? And besides, we are mainly talking about more or less modern music.

P.S. Plus, one should not forget about such genres as progressive rock and metal, where there is really no hint of a primitive melody.
