If we compare, RTS is still more popular than TBS. Otherwise, this infamous rumor wouldn't have caused so much hype. :)
And, as mentioned, it's just an assumption, someone's speculation, even if it has some basis. There's also a well-founded opinion that if an RTS does come out in the Might and Magic universe, the title won't include the word "Heroes" (for details, I can direct you to the Heroes' Corner, specifically, to browse the news feed from the previous month, or read the topic with a similar name on the Nival forum). That is, there's a chance that we'll get new turn-based heroes, and it's not insignificant, assuming the developers are interested in further developing the series.
