Misanthropy (Greek: μισανθρωπία, from Greek: μισέω, "to hate" and Greek: ἄνθρωπος, "human") is the hatred of humankind, hatred towards people. The emotional content (anger, bitterness, indifference) depends on the level of development of the subject and the specific circumstances. As a rule, this is a feeling of one's own alienation from humanity, tinged with malice (sometimes with a touch of bitterness). But it can also be expressed solely through complete indifference to most of the concerns of other people. It may also be expressed as hatred towards people because of their insufficient mental or physical development, or tastes.
