In Heroes of Might and Magic V, the Paladins and Crusaders were really well-designed. The Crusaders with large shields (there was a screenshot of a Crusader with a griffin on his shield, it looked very nice, although making it red wasn't the best choice, but that's a matter of personal preference). The hero (I forgot the name of the specialist for knights) with the knights looks very good, because it really becomes a powerful unit (in terms of armor).
