What hit me harder in LCHP was the abundance of mistakes and discrepancies with the original source (i.e., the Watch series). On the other hand, Vasilyev wrote his part in DD excellently (the one about Rogozya).

I didn't know that, thanks. And specifically, that part from Day Watch is what I like most. Hmm... perhaps this Vasilyev isn't as bad as he might seem at first glance. But a person who advertises beer in his books (Creation, for goodness sake!) clearly doesn't deserve respect for his work.
