Humans are created to love. To love their significant other, their children, their family, their close friends – but not just them. Humans are given a unique gift: the ability to fall in love with every moment of their fleeting lives. To have passions in life, even many – dozens! – and to devote themselves completely to them. To dedicate their lives with love to a cause that fills them with meaning. To seek beauty in everything that surrounds them. We are capable of sincerely becoming attached even to insignificant things – the taste of our favorite coffee, the tart aftertaste of wine, the scent of our beloved woman’s perfume, the sweet taste of the first cigarette… We read books with delight, we can become completely immersed in the plot of a film without getting up from the chair, we can experience immense emotional excitement from an event that was (surprisingly!) invented by a professional storyteller. Who else, besides humans, is so capable of giving and squandering their love? Human life is so short, and ends in old age, because this is the price for the immense, consuming feeling of attachment. For the right to give love. Every person who has realized their purpose will not waste themselves on trivial things. Instead, they will do what they live for – to love.
