In what way has the spirit been preserved? Where is the connection to the previous games in the series? Saying that the spirit has been preserved because of "patriotism" is not quite right. The spirit is not expressed in the fact that many moments are similar (if you judge by that, then Warcraft was made in the spirit of Dune), but in the fact that when playing the game, you encounter connections with past games in the series. I don't feel that in the fifth installment. The game is good, even very good, but it's not Heroes 5. It's a game that uses the developments of NWC and the name for marketing. Since the game turned out well, Ubisoft and Nival can easily remove the number 5 (the marketing has already taken place) and replace the game's title with Heroes - New Reality (or something similar).
Why is there an obligatory connection to past installments? I think everyone would be satisfied with parts 3 and 4, and part 5 brought something new to the genre and the story. It was necessary to inject fresh blood into Heroes; what's the point of continuing everything, as if it were a series??? I think that's what the spirit of Heroes is all about – a new story, and naturally, a new world, which is connected to the change in the development company.
I believe that GTA did the right thing by changing the main character, and the game became a hit even though it didn't continue GTA III and Vice City, just like Heroes of Might and Magic V!!!! ;) ;)
