Question: Is it possible to pass through this passage? (initially, there was no guard there).

Perhaps the question is no longer relevant, but I'll add my two cents, as I don't think the correct interpretation was given here:

The passage to the right of the cave cannot be used by players because it is guarded by cats (!!), and they are positioned specifically to guard that passage.
