What would you do?

Why not try to save everyone? It's not a given that the attempt will fail and everyone will perish. Maybe we'll get lucky, or we'll come up with something and save ourselves (diplomacy, a super ambush, and my brilliant mind!) (this is about the village).
And if we take the island, maybe we'll find food and save everyone. But if not, and food is limited, what's the point of feeding only the strong if it's going to run out anyway and everyone will die? (Besides, people in their prime eat more than the elderly, children, etc.)... This is, of course, if we don't consider eating corpses, haha.
And the last option is generally for someone who's given up, because it will be difficult to survive alone (especially on an island).

In general, I would probably try (although I'm not sure). It's better than condemning people who believe in you to death. And there's a lot of responsibility, although it will be almost the same in the second case, but it will be a little different, because I would just be fulfilling my duty as a leader, and not acting on my personal impulses to save my own skin. And if you're not ready for that, then you're not a leader, and what the hell are you doing in that position? Haha.
