And HOMM1 has its own charm: the images are cool (especially the bearded ogres), and the AI is aggressive.

Yeah...
The ogres are just awesome there! But I liked the hero on the battlefield the most :)
I also like the absence of the wait mode. It's a fair fight, wall against wall, and no tactical maneuvers :) (well, almost no tactical maneuvers).
