We used all the rests. In the second round, I built dragons in the capital and behemoths in the secondary town. Among other things, I hoarded trees and unicorns, had a minimal amount of mana, collected a life potion, a small amount of utopia (red orb), and a tier 3 item (gladius, book of earth). In terms of attack parameters and magic, I had no chance of winning in an army battle, so I decided to take a risk and try to eliminate a few creatures with implosion, but I didn't make it to the second round.
