The story of the Krigans' appearance has already been described by the esteemed Admin.
And I will add some facts.
The main events take place in the lands of Roland Ironfist. By this time, Roland has already reclaimed the throne from Archibald. (By the way, you will have to interact with his dark persona during the game.) And now, the statue of Archibald adorns the royal library.
After the appearance of the Krigans, Roland sets out on a campaign, leaving the kingdom under the rule of his son, Nicholas. Oh, you will have a lot of trouble with this irresponsible offspring. During this campaign, Roland disappears, and no one in the lands of Ironfist Castle has any information about his fate.
You play as a group of unfortunate travelers saved by a hermit. (See the video at the very beginning of the game.) You will have to:
-find out the fate of Roland
-save/or not save the world from the Krigans
-uncover the secrets of the "Ancients"
-visit the mysterious Oracle
-shoot from blasters
-cause a massacre in the NWC office :) I really didn't find Mr. Van Canningham there;
-and much more
And most importantly, you will have to find out if you have received the Blessing of Heaven!
