Even the bravest fled in fear of the raging elements. Years passed... one large family of monsters began to fall apart. Some became enemies of others. Some went underground. Others, fearing death, became undead. Some retreated into forests and mountains. By building fortified cities, the races continued to expand. Everyone forgot about those who had gone to the safest place of all — underwater. Only the noble elves preserved melodic tales of merfolk and sea monsters. Generations changed. The elves began to speak of nature's friends rising up. And it was true. After many years spent underwater, the Children of the Sea grew strong and learned to move quickly by writhing their entire bodies. They withstood the most massive waves.
