I really like the balance in Heroes of Might and Magic II! It's about balance, not about forcing a roughly 1:1 HP-to-damage ratio for all units of the same level. How beautifully Titans with 300 HP and Paladins with 65 HP can coexist at the same level! It all depends on the map, its creator, and the person playing the game: knowing and being able to leverage the strengths of each faction! :-)
