In the vast majority of cases, this is a result of the individual's desire to portray their hobby as highly intellectual (in rarer cases, it is a result of genuine interest or paranoia). On the internet, this disease is most often observed among fans of Japanese pornographic cartoons.

Anime fans love to look for deep meaning in anime because they don't want to be "sexually obsessed, infantile perverts watching cartoons about panties, good, and dicks," but rather "wise nonconformists, seekers of truth that doesn't exist, drawing ideas and inspiration from animated films from the Land of the Rising Sun." Thus, it is beneficial for them to present anime as highly intellectual.

When encountering a truly non-trivial idea in a Japanese cartoon "about a guy and a bunch of girls," such as "killing people is bad," an individual infected with DMSS (most often of school age) rushes to write laudatory odes to this cartoon in their blog, the anime section of their local forum, and on WorldArt, while simultaneously calling everyone who doubts it "ignorant scum."

DMSS, in most cases, goes away with acne and school life, but in some cases, if the individual has a strong Sense of Self-Importance, it can develop into truly grotesque forms, accompanied by abundant and especially stinky reviews on WorldArt and in blogs. Most often, such a person turns into a piece of sh*t.
