The developers have to dig through the program's code, trying to connect additional modules and libraries, which doesn't always yield positive results and can be quite difficult, and in turn, can lead to errors... Secondly, you can introduce some new elements, but it's very difficult to teach the computer to use these elements... Thirdly, you always need to remember about balance, because introducing any new element or changing something that already exists will undoubtedly affect the entire game system...
