Yes, it was a hard-fought battle.

I couldn't break through this armored train with only 14 attack against 28 defense. The first battle took place on a swamp (+1 to speed from native land) and +1 to speed from the artifact - it didn't slow down Tazar as much as it needed to, and there was a Sphere of Inhibition (but it's still unclear who it would have "helped"). He retreated from the battle, rather than buying his way out. In the second battle, he decided to fight with magic, gaining 1 week (from the swamp), because Tazar had 30+ mana (I didn't see if he had a mana well on his path or not), and only the first two levels of magic (200 mana). But in the first round, he cast healing...
