Yes, #1 from one team must play against #1 from another team, and so on.
Variations are possible if there is a truly critical situation, for example, if a network connection cannot be established between two players, or if their time zones do not match for playing. The players inform the captains, the captains make changes, and inform the judge about this.

Regarding the "alcoholics," it's a difficult but correct decision, IMHO! Although, we could put the question to a vote; if all the Clans unanimously agree, then we could include them! Otherwise, we shouldn't include "crocodiles" either, due to the failure to fulfill point 2 of the rules!

I agree with this. Invisible would become a strong and active leader, and many online players from the forum would join his Clan, even those who wouldn't join any other Clan.
