Fantasy vs. Science Fiction

science fiction, I've always said that. I love sci-fi for the vast amount of ideas and concepts it contains. You can come up with a completely original universe that will be very interesting. I've never liked fantasy. Fireballs/orcs/gnomes/swords/bows, seasoned with epicness and topped with a cherry – the main villain. The main hero is a simple country boy with a family sword, who suddenly turns out to be an awesome heir to a huge kingdom/an overpowered artifact falls into his hands/bandits kill his parents and he sets off on a journey to an old hermit-teacher to take revenge. A typical, extremely banal plot of the most banal fantasy. Exceptions in books and games (let's not talk about movies) are extremely rare. Mostly - just clichés and templates.
