Literature.

"The Hobbit" is a work by one of the most famous fantasy writers (for those who don't understand) Tolkien.

For me personally, Tolkien is like Marinina compared to Agatha Christie, Simeon, or Poe... I only know one thing about Tolkien - his only work is "The Lord of the Rings" - he's not remarkable to me in any other way.
Fantasy is undoubtedly more related to the "Heroes" theme, but it's just a section of science fiction, a separate branch of it :)
But still, I don't understand how you can read fantasy if you've discovered science fiction...

Well, try it. I tried twice - I kept stopping at the part when... well, never mind, you'll understand what I'm talking about when you get to the middle :)
