I don't know where you got that definition from... but it's incorrect. Slipknot is an example of Nu-metal.

The definition is from Wikipedia, and there, Nu-metal isn't tied to a specific group or the definition itself, but is broken down by types. Here's what it says: "Angry nu-metal

Nothing like that... Nu-metal is a subgenre of Metal, but not Alternative... Just like Heavy Metal.

The musicians are better.

Well, it depends on who you ask. The genres are slightly different, and it's hard for me to compare them personally.

For example, Slipknot has a lot of swearing, but I somehow enjoy listening to them.

There are as many opinions as there are people.
