Trash Can

We didn't have immense power, nor did we experience catastrophic devastation. But life for ordinary people in the country wasn't good under the USSR, and that's a fact. Stalin certainly led our country to a certain level of progress (through tyrannical methods), but that's perhaps the only thing he did. Even the victory in World War II was achieved only thanks to the selflessness of our soldiers defending their country. It's not surprising that Stalin is criticized; he was quite the scoundrel.

Frankly, I don't care what people think about the USSR anymore; it's long gone.

It's only been gone for 17 years, which is nothing in history. It seems the entire West still associates us with the USSR, and I don't think there's anything strange about that.
