Wow, that's cool. I had a similar experience where I attacked Santa Goblins, and when I forgot about the Santa Goblins (not their surroundings), the surroundings (other goblins) didn't move at all and only started moving after my three turns. It's a bit off-topic, but the most effective magic against Santa Goblins is Meteor Shower or Chain Lightning.
