Kifira is good at the start, and extra money never hurts anyone. After all, she comes with the Treasury skill. The mine guards are good at clearing out enemies (if the guards aren't ranged units).

Kifira is simply terrible at the start; she'll still have to buy harpies, and those few minotaurs will never be deployed on the battlefield.
But you can take her primarily for the famous 250 coins and buy a decent hero in the tavern.
