By the way, I always develop mages to their full potential. If it's a warrior, I equip them with all sorts of warrior-related skills. It's a habit from RPGs.
Forest elves are generally versatile, with a slight inclination towards warriors. This is reflected in their decent knowledge base, which should definitely be put to use. In my opinion, it's not a good idea for a hero to just shoot at enemies without using any mana. Magic will bring much more benefit. And it should be prioritized over machines. Forest elf machines don't deal a lot of damage.
