Maybe I'm saying something very new, but they usually manage it. ;) And therefore, without any unnecessary complications, it's the same manipulations, but with devils. The arrangement is sparse, the first stack consists of devils. They go first, jump behind the Champions (if they jump in the face, the AI will flank them from behind and thus reach the heroes, which is not allowed), the heroes huddle in a corner so that the Champions don't reach them on the first turn (it should be noted that the mage casting Vampiric Touch should initially stand out of reach). That's all there is to it.
I'll check this battle at home, but 5 devils shouldn't be able to kill even one...
