You can agree on the number of rests and the turn time. Personally, I played 2 vs. 2 several times, and it took us about 4 hours. Since the turn time was 2 minutes, and the players weren't really dragging their feet...
Even now, when I eliminate 119 undead with 24 archers, it doesn't take much time...
