Considering the initiative of the elven troops, the Meteor Shower (and other mass spells) will severely damage your own units. Empathy is not as useful in this case as "Keen Mind" (the hero's starting initiative is 10 instead of 12.5), but even with it, the hero will most likely move after the Dryads, Dancers, and Dragons.

Alternatively, if you try to play defensively in this situation, you could take "Preparedness," for example. However, it will be risky if the opponent has dark magic (although Sylvan has a lot of resistance). Or, there is an alternative: cast Implosion, Frost Nova, Fireball, Stone Skin, Ring of Cold, and other spells on the ranged unit. However, Meteor Shower is the most suitable and powerful spell.
