Another point: to prevent enemy units (especially Elven ones) from running out of turns too quickly, you can (and should) upgrade the "Sharp Mind" skill. Fortunately, a Demon only needs to focus on scouting to achieve this. And that's it. Cast "Mass Confusion" and I wouldn't want to be in the enemy's shoes!
