You are comparing a game with a good Multiplayer mode, which, in my opinion, is designed specifically for playing with other people. That is why regular games in Heroes turn into Tournaments, that is why Heroes 5 has a Ubisoft server designed for games between people, and so on. There are many such games, and not only in the fantasy genre, but the difference from RPGs is that they focus on the plot and single-player mode. For example, Oblivion exists only in single-player mode, and the ability to play it as a team is only available in a patch.
If you mean that if a game doesn't have a Multiplayer, then there's no point in holding Offline Tournaments for it, then why are Tournaments for King's Bounty 2 still being held, as I already said?
Therefore, holding Tournaments for it is more of a desire to compete in everything. Maybe some people like it.
It's all just my opinion.
