what kind of friends are these, who take hostages? o_O
friends-terrorists? there is no camaraderie among them. there is calculation. the main difference between "a lie for good" and a possible "betrayal for good (which I doubt exists)" is that it doesn't harm anyone.
I generally believe that a small and harmless lie sometimes makes life much easier.
although this doesn't relate to the topic at hand...
