For some reason, serious tournaments always use the latest versions of the games (and this applies not only to Heroes), as well as additional software (anti-cheat programs, ban lists, blockers, etc.). We can discuss the balance of Equi for as long as we want, but I suggest doing it on the developer's forum. There is already a wealth of knowledge and explanations about why this add-on is better (rather than trusting the whole world, i.e., ToH). Why keep chewing on the same thing over and over again?
