They definitely win! In my opinion, it depends on the "Hall of Fame" or whatever it's called, which you have to give to one of the rulers. And in my castle in Harmonydale, two flags appear in front of the door to the hall – one for darkness and one for light, and the flag of the country that "won." I had a case where I was playing as the dark faction, but Erathia won, and as a result, everyone in all the lands looked at me suspiciously and didn't want to buy anything. And the guards of all the places I went to attacked me. This was really the case; they only acknowledged me in my own castle and in Pite, whose side I chose.
