A new version of the Opera browser has been released. Opera 9.5 features a new ECMAscript engine that uses fewer system resources compared to the previous one, providing faster and smoother browsing.
The browser includes the Opera Link service, which synchronizes bookmarks and Speed Dial sites between the desktop version of Opera and Opera Mini for mobile phones. Much attention has been paid to the built-in email application. Opera Mail runs faster and uses less memory. Problems with the program freezing during email checking and news retrieval have also been resolved. In addition, support for multiple accounts has been improved, the ability to display the mailbox in a hierarchical view has been added, and draft handling has been enhanced. The Mail panel interface has also been improved.
Opera 9.5 also includes numerous improvements related to website compatibility (this is what Opera users complain to developers about most often). In particular, problems with Google sites, the standard WordPress template, and various JavaScript libraries have been fixed. Kestrel also has support for some new options that help improve website compatibility. These include support for the CSS properties "overflow-x" and "overflow-y", and JavaScript Getters and Setters.
Opera 9.5 supports screen reader programs. The program works with Window-Eyes, Jaws, and VoiceOver on OS X. In addition, spatial navigation has been improved and hotkeys have been simplified.
The new release also features a new system for protecting against online fraud, and this protection is enabled by default for the first time. The module for protecting users from online fraud in the new Opera 9.5 combines Opera Software's own developments and technologies from HauteSecure, a company that develops security tools for the internet. Thanks to this technology, the new Opera monitors to ensure that the user does not accidentally download malicious software through the browser that could steal their personal data.
Opera 9.5 also provides support for Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates. It is also worth noting the quick search function, which allows you to quickly find one of the visited pages by entering words that appear on it.
