We chose all restarts. On 111 I went into the crypt :smile13: , which turned out to be a max-level one... :smile21: 7 lizards and about 30 Gnolls survived. All the left flank meat fell in an unequal battle... :smile05: In the end I was in a tight spot - completely blocked in. On one side, 100+ Troglodytes guarding an external dwelling right on the pass + up to 20 Ogres (turned out to be 19 with a growth stack). And I would have had to fight both stacks. On the other side, the entrance to the underground was guarded by up to 50 Ghosts; breaking through them I saw up to 50 growth Harpies. Can't go through the swamp - on one side the guard of the Hydra external dwelling blocked the way - up to 20 Scorpicores, and on the other I ran into up to 50 Gogs. :smile10: By 114, all the army except 14 lizards had fallen. :smile34: No sawmill, no wood lying around at all. :smile18: In the end I just skipped turns until 121 and had a 1-4 in the stronghold. On 121 I bought everyone back except some Harpies, broke through 100+ Troglodytes, 19 Ogres, and trudged to the teleport for 31 Air elementals (10 upgraded, the bastards) and 88 Zombies. I smashed them and popped out right on my opponent's respawn. I thought: well, finally they'll finish me off so I don't have to suffer! :smile39: However, it turned out the opponent had lost their army to up to 100 upgraded Dwarves and was sitting in their castle with 2 horses and a dozen Pikemen. I killed a couple of horses, Taz captured the uncolored native secondary of the blue player. I didn't go for the blue player, since the castle was built, and for all I know the horses could be 1 or 4. Anyway, without Wyverns and with 36 lizards, plus Tazar's attack of 2, there was nothing to gain. :smile32: Desperately looked for a sawmill, but never found a single one. :eek: And then word came of the surrender, as Maxim's mood had been hopelessly ruined after the loss. :smile15:
Thanks to the opponent for the game. Although we both played terribly and no one deserved the win. In short, it's shameful, but what can you do? Through all the restarts, both mine and my opponent's, there was never a good setup. Or maybe I'm just asking for too much?
