This issue doesn't necessarily need to be resolved by modifying the original maps. You can, for example, search for maps on specialized Heroes websites. I suggest starting with heroes.ag.ru and all4heroes.net
I haven't personally searched for multiplayer alliance maps, but I can assume that there are quite a few of them there.
As for the default maps, I'm not an expert in editing and browsing archives, so I'll wait for advice from other players.

O God of Earth and Altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.
G.K. Chesterton: English Hymnal
