Really? If you kill a lot (about 150) creatures of level 1, you can get 1-3 vampires.

I think vampires are the best. You take 25-30 of them and go around, leveling them up.

For leveling up, even 2 vampires are enough. Then you can use them for anything, even to heat the stove, if you have Necromancy level 5, of course.
