Campaigns are a series. To watch the next episode, you need to put in some effort. Playing through the expansion campaigns without playing through the original campaign is like watching movies 2 and 3 without watching movie 1. You can watch them, but it's not very clear how everything started, and how the characters ended up in this situation.
