Yes, childhood was a fun and carefree time... I wish I could go back and sneak into movies that were only allowed for those 16 and older, putting on a serious face to convince the elderly ticket lady that I was about to join the army. I remember some kids even used their older brothers' IDs. We'd go to the movie theater and play arcade games like "Battleship," "Basketball," and "Air Combat," etc. And finally, we'd eat that delicious ice cream that was served in crispy waffle cones. Yessss... We could also hang out at ice cream parlors and spend all the money our parents gave us for some holiday, maybe even two or three rubles. It was so much fun... That's what it was like back then. I remember the excitement surrounding bicycles; I can still feel the thrill I had when I went with my parents to buy my first bike, probably called "Uralets" now. We'd race around with the other kids from the neighborhood, getting scrapes and bruises, and feeling the adrenaline rush. We'd go see the first full-length animated movie that was shown in theaters, "The Lord of Time." No matter what anyone says, childhood in the Soviet Union was interesting. Pioneer camps – by the way, back then everyone just called them "camps" – it's funny. Pioneer campfires, hikes, learning to play the guitar... Well, that's the story, almost a memoir.
