As Cr@zy Wolf already said, elves are the strongest tier 3 unit, and they really are much better than many tier 4 units.

As Vikh and I already said, they are "not at all better" than tier 4 monsters, with the possible exception of the dwarven one. They might be more useful or convenient, but they are definitely not "better and stronger." Of course, when they are standing in the corner of the field, with a stone diagonally in front of them, they can outshoot lizards and griffins (ha, but not royal griffins). But, for the umpteenth time, they are in no way better than mages, druids, vampires, shamans, and other such nonsense, because they perform different functions in battle. Well, you can still compare them to mages or druids, but an archmage will deal much more total damage with a fireball, and a druid will kill a significant number of archers with just one lightning bolt.
Finally, if you really want to compare someone to someone else, compare them increase by increase. That would be fair, wouldn't it? Compare 4 druids and 8 (or however many... roughly that many) archers. Look at their effectiveness both when divided into many stacks and in one. Compare their damage and hit points. And maybe you'll understand why druids are tier 4, and elves are tier 3, and not the other way around. This is also true for any tier 4 troops. And for succubi and temptresses, and for clubmen, and for lizards. Maybe then it will occur to you... the incorrectness of this kind of judgment.
In that case, you might think about comparing troops not from the point of view of "a battle in an open field between neutrals," but as a battle between the armies of two heroes. And here's the paradox: this is exactly what we want you to do. In this case, archers, being under cover, can significantly thin out the ranks of vampires. If they don't get hit by forgetfulness/blindness/mirror image/hypnosis/plague, and so on, of course, but that's exactly what they will get. They can also shoot at lizards. And during a meteor shower, they will try to hide behind the thin back of a revived oak. And with archmages (even simple ones) - it's just great. In addition to them, the melee units surrounding them also help the elves. So please, finally, stop with the childish nonsense and face the facts. Not based on how you killed 20 peasants near a mine with 10 archers in one volley, but objectively. It is impossible to compare them to tier 4, and that's it. And when you start to have obsessive thoughts about taking out an entire tier 4 stack with one volley, remember my words about increase or magic. Maybe it will help.

But please, no far-fetched examples like "100 fairies will suffer much greater losses from a cave troll's attack than 10."
