Installed Vista yesterday. Decided to take a look and see what it's all about, as I had only seen screenshots before. Naturally, I installed it on a separate logical drive so as not to remove my old Windows XP. First, for general familiarization, and second, to see DirectX 10 in action and check how the software I use most often will work. The latest drivers I downloaded for my video card didn't install on Vista, which was quite disappointing. I had to use the drivers that came with the video card (which were about six months old). Of course, testing games without the latest drivers is not ideal, but there was nothing else I could do. In Assassin's Creed, the graphics definitely improved. Not drastically, and I didn't see the much-hyped DirectX 10, but the picture was very beautiful, too bad it didn't run smoothly. In Crysis, playing on max settings is impossible, and at the beginning of the game, I didn't notice any difference. In BioShock, I couldn't figure out how to enable anti-aliasing (with dynamic lighting on DirectX 9, it couldn't be enabled; in DirectX 10, if I'm not mistaken, it can be), and it was too late, so I didn't realize that I could do it through the driver. That's where my DirectX 10 gaming ended. As for software, I installed QuickTime (build 8050), and it worked perfectly.
