During the Great Patriotic War, according to official data, 26.6 million people died, including approximately 8.7 million soldiers.
It is sad that with each passing year, there are fewer and fewer veterans. Even sadder is the fact that the day is not far off when there will be none left... Let us honor the memory of all those who did not return home after the war, all those who brought victory closer with all their might. The unity, faith in victory, and incredible patriotism of the Soviet soldiers and officers created a significant foundation for success in the war and gives reason for pride today! Let us say "thank you" to them for the fact that today we live in a free country!
O God of Earth and Altar, Bow down and hear our cry, Our earthly rulers falter, Our people drift and die, The walls of gold entomb us, The swords of scorn divide, Take not thy thunder from us, Take away our pride.
