There is a common belief that using fixed maps is a new trend. This is not true; most tournaments are held on fixed maps to level the playing field and give both opponents an equal chance of winning. Furthermore, it eliminates the possibility of cheating by one opponent viewing the map – both opponents can view the map as many times as they want and whenever they want (for example, during the game).
