The weakest unit for mages is the gargoyle. :( Compare 50 gargoyles to 50 zombies. They will kill 6 zombies at a time, while zombies will kill 30 gargoyles at a time.

No way! 50 zombies can't kill 30 gargoyles at once (unless your attack is 20 and the enemy's defense is 0, then I agree). Otherwise, a gargoyle has 8-10 attack damage, no more.
