How do I send/request resources from the AI ally?

One question: how do you REQUEST resources from an ally, or what needs to be done so that they understand what I need? (Regardless of whether it's a computer or a human player).
After all, when a computer ally sends resources, it indicates what it needs...

P.S.: Please don't bother answering with things like: "If it's a human, press 'TAB' and type; if it's a computer, reduce the required resource to zero"...
