You know, I wasn't wrong to put a "Wikipedia user" userbar on my profile. You shouldn't be 100% sure about the accuracy of the information, but at least you can listen to it. And here's what we can read about the definition of "flood":
Flood, or rarely flad (from English flood /flʌd/ – "flood") – idle talk, messages in internet forums and chats that take up (in many cases) large amounts of space, or, conversely, consist of one word or several characters and do not contain any new, useful, or meaningful information. Sometimes, any off-topic is called a flood. For a chat, "flood" is the repetition in the chat of one or more similar phrases, more often than one message every certain period of time set by the moderators (for many chats, it is equal to 3 minutes).
In principle, this information is not new for most people. But let's see what is written further:
Flood spreads both as a result of an excess of free time and with the aim of trolling – for example, out of a desire to annoy someone. Netiquette condemns flood and flame, as they hinder communication, mutual assistance, and the exchange of information. On many internet forums, special separate sections and topics are created "for flood", so that flooders do not spread their activities to other sections and topics.
I don't know how applicable this is to our forum, but in general, it turns out that the "flood" section is created so that people can actually flood and write messages that do not carry great semantic load...
