Which third-level creature is the best?

I would like to see Elves – they attack twice, and their damage is great, plus I like archers more, but… for some reason, Griffons are more popular. I especially like their retaliatory attack against all enemies.
Snakes are also great – they can dispel spells, inflict weakness, and their speed is amazing.
